DHD Surfboards coming soon

Darren Handley is regarded as one of the finest shapers in the world. Growing up on Australia’s Gold Coast has allowed Darren to study the large variety of waves there and refine and create the most perfect boards to suit each type of wave. This has resulted in the DHD team taking numerous titles, including Mick Fanning’s 3X ASP World Titles and Stephanie Gilmore’s 6X ASP World Titles.

DHD surfboards haven’t been around for a while in our shop here at Down the Line… But that’s about to change. We have just placed a large order with Mr. Handley in Australia and the boards are being made over there right now. We’re expecting delivery around Mid March. Have a look below for the range we have coming in stock.

Patagonia, take a bow

Patagonia 100% for the Planet

If only more companies were like Patagonia. Since 1985, Patagonia have always pledged 1% of all their sales to nonprofit environmental groups through the 1% for the Planet Plan. So far that has added up to more than $74 million given directly to small grass roots environmental groups working in local communities throughout the world…. That is until last week…

As the Black Friday sales were nearing, Patagonia promised to give 100% of their global retail and online Black Friday sales. That is not just 100% of all profit, but pure 100% revenue to small companies fighting through tooth and nail to make a change defending our world’s climate, air, water and soil. They estimated sales of $2million, but that total was beat 5 times over, making a record breaking $10 million dollars in sales. This is thanks to the support of the customers to help them achieve this total, but in large part down to their unequalled business ethics that has helped make such a change in the world already. To find out more of grants already issued by Patagonia in the past, check here.

I just wanted to say on behalf of all of us here at Down the Line Surf Co.. Patagonia, take a bow.

Black Friday Is Coming

Black Friday board sale

This year’s Black Friday sale falls on the 25th of November and will be running over the weekend ending on Monday 28th of November. If the previous Black Fridays have taught us anything, it’s that you’re much safer shopping online where you will not be trampled by an angry mob. So put your feet up and grab a bargain on a brand new surfboard from the safety of your own home.

Christmas Shopping

Christmas is just around the corner so why not make a head start on your Christmas shopping. Coincidentally we have just received a new delivery of Patagonia clothing just in time for the coming winter.

In the meantime enjoy some action from last year’s Black Friday pipeline sessions.

New bits and stuff

Hey people, how was your Summer? If you’re anything like me then it has all gone too fast and you’re not ready to see the end of it. Although September and early October has lit up with some all time classic days here on the North Coast of Cornwall, with only 2 weeks left before the clocks go back it won’t be long until it’s time to hang up the Summer suit for another year. If your Winter wetsuit has seen better days, we have our full range of Men’s and Women’s Winter wetties in stock…. including a whole fresh batch of Zion wetsuits. If you haven’t checked these out before, have a look here and you won’t be disappointed.

Zion Wetsuits

Made from super stretchy limestone based Japanese neoprene, these bad boys are not only really warm and flexible, but also at a price that will leave you with a few extra quid in your pocket for Christmas.

Channel Islands Flexbar Surfboards

We haven’t got many Channel Islands Samplers in Flexbar tech left.  There were strictly limited stock available and they didn’t hang around. Fear not if we haven’t got your size left, as we have some more coming in stock in December. These will be in both the Sampler and Black & White models.

Surfboard Price Rise

And now for some not so good news.. You may have noticed an increase in price on some of our surfboards over the last week. This is due to the fact that most of our boards are imported from overseas, and to the weakening pound against the dollar and the Euro. Surfboard margins have always been tiny, (which is why most “surf ” shops only have a handful of token surfboards and the rest of the shop is filled with clothing), but with the current status of the pound these margins have slipped to almost non existent.  This is completely unavoidable and has been rolled out in all surf shops nationwide.

World Surf League – Portugal

Just to finish on a high.. The MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal is on… Yew!!
