Redback Surfboards

Red Back surfboards lined up against a wall, from 6 foot to 8 foot long

The lineup of some of our Redback Surfboards in store.

Redback Surfboards are Australian made high performance softboards. We’re well happy to say that yesterday the truck rocked up outside the shop and delivered our Summer stock for 2016. At Down the Line Surf Co. we’ve been importing and selling the Redback surfboards since the boss man first saw them being surfed on Bondi Beach  nearly 10 years ago. He couldn’t believe how well they went so had to get his hands on one. On closer inspection he saw the finer details that set these apart from other soft boards. Namely the stringers running through the board to provide better strength and greater memory/flex properties. The highly tuned rails allow the Redbacks to really cut across the water and actually surf like a proper surfboard!

The Redback Surfboards we have in stock range from 6’0″ up to 8’0″. The 6’0″ has a shortboard template, there’s a 6’6″ Swallow tail fish surfboard, and the 7’0″ and 8’0″ models are mini mal templates.. Perfect for learning on!

Christenson Custom Surfboards

May 3rd, 2016

Christenson Logo

The month of June 2016 sees Californian master shaper Chris Christenson’s arrival to the Basque country, Spain, where he will spend the month at the Olatu factory to shape some of his marvellous creations for the likes of you and I.  We at Down the Line Surf Co. are stoked to be the exclusive UK distributor for Christenson surfboards and are taking bookings now for custom orders. These will be shaped by Chris himself whilst he is at the Olatu factory. The boys at Olatu also shape and finsh our Channel Islands, Lost and Pukas surfboards to an exceptional standard.

Chris Christenson Surfboards

Chris is well reknowned for shaping serious big wave craft for the likes of Greg Long and Ian Walsh, but his mid lengths and fishes have been a firm favourite of ours at Down the Line for years. (I don’t get much opportunity to ride a gun at Godrevy, and my cajonies are far too small for one anyway.)

If you want to get your hands on any of these strictly limited boards, get in contact now to ask any questions and find out more.

If you want to find out more about what types of boards he shapes, have a look at some of the models available in his website right here  and what we currently stock in our shop.

Worn Wear

April 12th, 2016

worn wear

The Worn Wear tour is coming to town…

As individual consumers, the single best thing we can do for the planet is to keep our stuff in use longer. This simple act of extending the life of our garments through proper care and repair reduces the need to buy more over time—thereby avoiding the CO2 emissions, waste output and water usage required to build it.

Come visit Down the Line Surf Company Ltd in Hayle, Cornwall for free repairs on your busted zippers, rips, tears, buttons and more (we fix all brands). We’ll also show you how to make simple repairs on clothes that have a second life left in them.

The Worn wear team will be with us from the 30th April @ 9:30am to May 1st 5:30pm.

*Fine print: our tour staff can fix about 20 garments per day, all repairs are made on a first come, first served basis. One repair per guest.

Lost X Libtech

April 1st, 2016

A new arrival to our boardroom this week is the Lost Surfboards X Libtech Puddle Jumper. The Puddle Jumper has been an incredibly popular smaller wave model in the Lost surfboards line-up for a while now!

“This is the most exited I’ve have ever been about a small wave surfboard.”~ Matt Biolos.

The board, features a concave bottom that transitions to vee in the tail. The wide outline makes for easy wave catching and down the line glide and stability. The concave bottom adds lift and increased rail curve, which allows radical top to bottom surfing. The straight rail line & vee in the tail keep the board moving forward and hold in during hard carving manoeuvres.
