Michael Mackie started shaping boards way back in 1983 under the influence of Terry Fitzgerald of "Hot Buttered". From there he's shaped under various companies and top shapers, until forming his own company, Southerly Change Surfboards in 1989. Mackie Designs was formed in the late 90's, where he tuned his skills into wider, thicker boards. Mick draws his main influences as Steve Lis, Skip Frye, George Greenough and legendary snowsurf shaper Dimitrije Milovich. Now based in Ulladulla, NSW, Austrailia, Mick's fishes of today are a mix of traditional and modern concepts.
