Lost Puddle Fish Surfboard

To make the Puddle Fish, Matt started off with the Puddle Jumper and made some changes, including:-

Push the wide point forward: This allows you to get you weight forward and get onto waves easier, and also helps to generate speed in slack sections

Widened and squared off the tail: This coupled with the wider nose, straightens out the rail line offering even more drive

Reduce the depth of the concave through the centre of the board: To flatten and straighten the rail rocker under the front foot = better performance in sub par conditions.

 Bottom Contour: It still has the typical Puddle Jumper tail/nose rocker and spiral vee under the rear foot, but with the added "Afterburner" channel.
Here's what Matt says about the Afterburner:-

"The inverted swallow, and angular corners of the square tail, reduces surface area behind the rear foot, adding bite and control without sacrificing the extreme drive generated by the straight tail outline and rail rocker. The entire design is wrapped up with the speed bleeding, "afterburner",  release channel, which sits inside the double concave vee panels and is toed in slightly, to run parallel with the rear quad fin placement. The channel then exits at the apex of the inverted swallow. My goal was to design a board that matches the flat line speed of any alternative "fish" design, without the cumbersome, drifty feeling most of these boards possess, and allow full force, small wave, rail surfing with confidence."

The Puddle Fish will work best in tiny conditions right up to just overhead.
