Founded in 2006 by legendary Australian shaper Nev Hyman, Firewire was the first major high-performance surfboard manufacturer to utilize 100% EPS/Epoxy construction. In addition to producing roughly 50 times less Volatile Organic Compounds than your traditional Polyurethane surfboard, EPS/Epoxy boards are also considerably more durable, meaning their environmental friendliness is further enhanced through longevity.

Constructed from EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) foam, Firewire’s blanks are 2-3 times lighter and far stronger than the Polyurethane blanks traditionally used in surfboard construction. Finished using epoxy resin over a range of high density skins, Firewire Surboards are truly pushing the boundaries of surfboard construction.
