A complaint with removable fins systems in general (not just FCS) by comparison with glassed-on set-ups has been a lack of power and drive due the weaker bond between surfboard and fin. For some there's been a trade-off between convenience and performance. But FCS2 might just have put paid to that. Larger tabs and fully glassed-in plugs (a development of the FCS 'Fusion' plug) equate to a tighter seal and therefore more drive. They’re also more user-friendly out of the water, incorporating a screwless locking system that allows even quicker fin changes (fin swap between sets anyone?) while still accommodating the old FCS fins should you wish to carry on using them (unfortunately you can't use the new FCS2 fins in the older, smaller plugs (including Fusion plugs)).
