The brand new pony is for hardcore or just downright desperate surfers wanting to maximise their speed and ability in even the worst conditions. Whether it’s tiny, onshore mush, or clean little runners, this board will have you going flaming fast.

A full nose outline moves into a generous distribution of volume under the chest, with a clean tail shape that was pulled in slightly during R&D to ensure manoeuvrability. The Flaming Pony’s smooth, flat rocker allows continuous flow in fat sections, and combines with a single to slight double concave to provide extra lift and easy rail-to-rail transitions.

Overall, you’ll enjoy a board that’s ridden two inches longer than previous ponies to create an incredibly forgiving small wave sled.

Waves: Ideal for knee to waist high waves but will be super fun in anything up to 3 feet. The Flying Pony skates over any flat section and is always fast and lively in full waves.

Rocker: An overall low to flat rocker with is perfect for all round performance in small to average surf.

Glassing Specs: Hyfi Technology

Bottom Contour: Single concave into double concave into vee through tail. A specifically designed, narrow concave for the wider board. A single concave starting in the nose to direct water under your feet for lift and speed. Double concave starts in front of fins which maintains lift and directs water release towards a gentle vee out the tail for maximum manoeuvrability.

Rails: Full rails, helping to reduce catch from and increasing speed in choppy or soft sections

Stringer: A carbon strip running along the stringer for enhanced strength

Hyfi Technology - After two years of research and development between top engineers and some of the world's best riders and over 100 prototype combinations of templates and materials, the resulting Hyfi (Hybrid Fiber) is an exclusive multi layer construction comprising of a stringerless EPS core with a mesh exoskeleton. Lighter, faster and stronger, the Hyfi creates the perfect flex properties for maximum performance. Carbon is added in all the right places for strength and rigidity and something called Oletin Fibers in other areas that require more flex as well as strength.

Picking up a Hyfi, you will definitely notice how much lighter these are than your usual PU board. (20% by all accounts). It should be noted that this doesn't mean you go way lower in volume, thinking it's going to be a lot more bouyant. The guys at JS say not to change your board length at all, and stick with what you normally ride.
Strength wise, Hyfi boards are reportedly 30% stronger than standard PU surfboards.
